Design sets: cinematic atmospheres with VG splendour
A hint of lavishness that shines through the set and tells a story. Each element within a film set conveys precise messages and defines the mood: this is how VG's exquisite design has made its way through motion pictures.
The staging of a scene and its photography are two fundamental cinematographic factors. In fact, the effect conveyed to the audience depends on the overall visual impact, together with the performance of the actors in the movie. With this in mind, VG's bespoke design can also play a key role, especially on sets where elegant elements are the stars.
Il figlio più piccolo (“The youngest son” - 2010, Pupi Avati)
“Il Figlio più piccolo”, namely “The youngest son”, that is the last film dedicated to the " Fathers' Trilogy" by Pupi Avati, sees a set full of many references to VG’s glamour, thanks to the plot that links the protagonists to the aspirations of a millionaire real estate economic empire. The film draws a drama with excerpts of comedy, played by actors such as Christian De Sica, Luca Zingaretti and Laura Morante, portraying a picture of Italy's pitiless vulgarity of spirit, a declaration of the decadence of our customs and the amorality of the ruling class, with the unmistakable signature of the director. Against this backdrop, VG's ostentatiously opulent décor finds its place with the Arabesque lighting collection, along with seating such as Calla, New Lips and the circular comfort of Le Cirque wooden chair, hosted by the poolside.
To be King - Koning van Katoren (2012, Ben Sombogaart)

“To be King - Koning van Katoren” is a Dutch film directed by Ben Sombogaart and inspired by the book of the same name by Jan Terlouw. The story begins with the death of the old king of Katoren, an imaginary kingdom, and the simultaneous birth of Stach, who is immediately orphaned. Years later, the boy, now seventeen years old, is fully determined to become king and bring peace to his land. "Le Tre Rose di Eva" ("Eva's three Roses") is one of the most iconic Mediaset TV series, aired from 2012 to 2018 through four seasons, directed by Raffaele Mertes. The story is set in the small town of Villalba, Tuscany, and begins with the murder of the well-known wine entrepreneur Luca Monforte. Among intrigues, betrayals and conspiracies unravel the stories of the three Taviani sisters, Aurora, Tessa and Marzia. The three girls are all daughters of Eva, Luca Monforte's lover who disappeared a few days after his barbaric murder. Egg Lamps and Exclamation small Lamps from the Arabesque line appear in the grandiose villa in the Arezzo countryside, along with Inside out designs in the outdoor pool. Hustlers (2019, Lorene Scafaria)
"Hustlers" is a 2019 film starring Jennifer Lopez and Lili Reinhart, directed by Lorene Scafaria. In the room that hosts most of the highlights, the Arabesque collection triumphs once again, with the constant presence of Egg lamps, among VG's most beloved items.
The film is about a group of irreverent strippers in financial difficulty, ready to find an original, but not entirely lawful, solution to earn large sums of money at the expense of their wealthy and ruthless clientele.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017, Chad Stahelski)
"John Wick: Chapter 2" is the second episode of the cult Saga starring Keanu Reeves, directed by Chad Stahelski. Among the film's locations, we find ourselves traveling through various places in Rome, such as museums, squares and historical monuments - and it is here that Obice outdoor lamps receive emphasis. Several pieces of this design are used in the concert scene set at the Baths of Caracalla, in the midst of one of the most spectacular actions.
After fulfilling his personal revenge against the Tarasov family in the first film, the protagonist has to deal with the Camorra boss Santino D'Antonio, with whom he has a pledge to pay.
Design splendour across cinema and music
Among cinematographic glimpses, television appearances and selection for special video clips, there are many scenographies in which VG fine elements appear. The design of Obice lamps, besides John Wick, also appears in the film "Burraco Fatale" by Giuliana Gamba (2020), accompanying the location of the national tournament in which the four protagonists participate. However, we could talk about more than just cinematography: the exclusive concept of the Versailles sofa stands out immediately, in the music video “Pamplona” by Fabri Fibra ft.TheGiornalisti, amidst aesthetic magnificence and enthusiastic youth.
An elegance made in VG that, besides being timeless, demonstrates an important and creative versatility, ready to inhabit the most intriguing photography of filmmakers and videomakers.
